Pinwheels, Mountain Ranges, and a Promise to Last a Lifetime

The air cooled ever so nicely as we climbed from the Northern California Valley into the quaint little town of Foresthill, CA. One deep breath of that pine tree mountain goodness and we felt far removed from all the business of the city. The Forest House Lodge is simply fantastic, with a wide variety of activities available in the hotel itself and a breathtaking view of visual poetry offered at their charming ceremony site.

We were so excited to see Matt and Heather's big day unfold before us. The details of the day, from the pinwheels, to the butterflies, to the table of sweet treats, were simply adorable and fun! Watching Heather giggle with her sister as her make-up was applied and the tender moments with her mother and everything in between...well, this photographer may have gotten a little misty eyed. There was no doubt how much love surrounded this couple. I loved that Matt and Heather opted to do their first look prior to the ceremony, which gave them even more time together to enjoy their precious day...and their responses to seeing each other for the first time? Priceless!

Matt and Heather, we loved getting to serve you on your wedding day and wish you all the best in this life together! Here are a few of our favorite photos of their day. And if you haven't seen their album, make sure to check it out below as well. Enjoy!

Pink Umbrellas, Button Cupcakes, and a Rainy Day Wedding

The forecast was for a steady day of rain. And as Dana got ready inside Gale Vineyards' little cottage room, you could hear the rain fall softly onto the rooftop. Laughter filled the room as funny moments unfolded. The rain was not going to change everyone's fun. The rain fell softly as Lee and Dana exchanged their vows inside St. James Church. Dana was stunning; Lee was radiant. Neither could stop smiling. And then, just as we were getting ready for the formal portraits, it happened! The rain stopped, and the sun split through just enough to give us some of the most yummy natural light that God could produce. A certain photographer may have done a little happy dance. There they stood as a brilliant wet background shone all around them and a little light from heaven shone down on them. Hello! Can we say yummy?

Lee and Dana, you two were so much fun, and your wedding day was beautiful! We wish you all the very best in this life. Here are a few of our favorites, and don't forget to check out your slideshow!

Two Heroes, a Red Mustang and a Breezy Wedding Day

She is a California girl, he is a New York guy, and they met while stationed on the East Coast. After a chance meeting through friends, these two knew they had something special. It was like they where long lost friends coming together, not total strangers. After surviving three deployments to the Middle East, they talked about getting engaged. James surprised Amy by proposing in St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York just one week before he was deployed to serve in Iraq.

After planning a wedding solo and from several states away, Amy was just glowing when her big day arrived. Despite a bit of a chill in the weather and a steady breeze, James and Amy had no problem heating things up. Radiant&emdash;they were simply radiant.

James and Amy, it was our honor to serve you on your wedding day! Your laughter and smiles are contagious. Bless you and your future together, and thank you again for serving our country. Here are of our favorites from your day. Enjoy!

Lee + Dana Engagement Portraits

Despite the unusually low temperature and even lower wind chill factor on the day of this shoot, Lee and Dana completely rocked their engagement session. Watching them laugh and get lost in each other was more beautiful then the lovely fall color. We had such a great time laughing and chatting during their session, it makes it hard to not look at the photos and just smile. It would be hard indeed to find two more genuinely sweet people.

Lee and Dana, you two make an adorable pair, and we can't wait to shoot your wedding this next year. Enjoy your slideshow! Here are a few of our favorites from the session.

Sara and Josiah's Wedding

The sun glistened off the plump, ripe grapes hanging bountifully off the vines behind them. The guys had arrived, laughing and cracking jokes, showing the intimacy of their friendship. Josiah's smile revealed all the happiness he felt to be marrying the girl of his dreams. The canopy of large oak trees and the beautiful garden landscape made for an intimate and picturesque backdrop for their wedding day at Gale Vineyard. Laughter seemed to be completely contagious as we grabbed some shots of the guys before the ceremony began.

Then Sara arrived, walking into the bridal room with a stunning glow that is so characteristic of the most lovely of brides on their wedding day. Sara was so laid back and relaxed, soaking up every moment with such grace. Sara and her bridesmaids giggled as they helped her slip into her lovely wedding gown. Sara was the picture of beauty. The last touches were added to her already radiant figure as her father walked in to walk her down the aisle. Sara was led down a lovely path of rose petals to the altar where her groom eagerly awaited her. Their day had finally come, and it was full of all the love, laughter and emotion that one could possibly anticipate on their wedding day. And the details, oh the details were so beautifully done!

Josiah and Sara, you two are adorable and so very much fun! We had a blast shooting your special day and we wish you all the best in your journey together. Enjoy!
